Obviously named by a politician. My apologies. Bridge connects Prince Edward Island to the Canadian mainland 13 km (9 miles) away. World's longest free standing bridge over open ocean. This photo only shows about 2 miles of it. If you look closely, you can just make out the far shore as a thin, thin dark line between sea and sky. It is very, very narrow, has only two lanes for vehicles, no pedestrians or bicycles allowed. I have experienced 5 weather 'systems' while crossing it: snow, sleet, rain, dense fog, and sunshine. All in one crossing!! When the 'breeze' gets up - they close the bridge. On a nice day it is an amazing trip across the open ocean. It's free to come to the island - $46.oo to go back. (Sneaky eh?)
